Won the National Illustration Award 2012 with the book “A cadeira que queria ser sofá.” by Clovis Levi (edited by Lápis de Memórias). Collaborates in collective illustration and comic projects.
is a travelling artist and poet. Born in Portugal, he is an illustrator, animator, sculptor, mathematician, educator and dish-washer. His award-winning work has been recognised and acclaimed in various parts of the world. He combines curiosity and experimentation as a means of finding constant inspiration. He has provided illustrations for various publications, such as The New York Times, Time Magazine and The New Yorker, in addition to illustrating children’s books. Hy, my name is Claudia Alexandrino and I’m from Braga, Portugal.
I’m a graphic designer and illustrator.
I studied at University of Aveiro and after I moved to Italy, where I started my career in one of the largest agencies of Packaging Design based in Milan,”BREAK AND PACKAGING DESIGN SOLUTIONS.”
After this experience I changed my job and now I’m working in a small agency, 6.14 Design , where I feel like I’m at home.
At the same time I’m a freelancer and the last year I published a children’s book “O Rapaz Bicicleta”.
Graduated in Communication Design, taught design and drawing in Architecture School of Porto University, having joined Aveiro University, where collaborated on the structure of training Design. Francisco defended PhD in his own work, directs the 3rd cycle in Aveiro University. With professional design practice (in his own studio) since 1985,
has been dedicated to the transfer of design in companies and Museography, as synthesis domain and interdisciplinarity, today cross closest to a creative function directed to social innovation. Francisco is a researcher co-founder of the research unit ID+ that understanding the poetics in design as a locally contaminated ethos considers its manifestation required for cultural diversity and health condition of the global system.
is Auxiliar Prof at Department of Communication and Art, University of Aveiro, Portugal. In 2012 she finished Ph.D. thesis The fragile totality. The meaning of drawing in design project. is from Guimarães and holds degrees in Visual Education from the Escola Superior de Educação, Leiria, and in Design from the University of Aveiro. She completed her masters in Design and Graphic Production at the University of Barcelona.
Helena has been involved in various projects in the areas of Communication in Design and Ilustration as a freelance artist. She is particularly interested in creating three-dimensional characters in plaster, and since 2003, has exhibited her work in this area. In early 2012, she created the permanent installation “Com os pés na terra e a cabeça nas nuvens” for the Museu do Brincar [Vagos].
Helena currently teaches courses in Visual Education and in Technology at the Escola Básica in Gafanha da Nazaré, Ílhavo, Portugal.
is an Industrial designer, footwear designer and illustrator, having studied industrial design at the University of Aveiro. He has collaborated with illustrations for CD collections released by the ‘O Público’ newspaper, and has also illustrated book covers for various publishers.
In 2011, he gave an exhibition of his drawings, and has also participated in various group exhibitions in Madrid. He spent four years designing footwear for Camper. He is currently responsible for the design of footwear for National Geographic.
completed her PhD in Design, entitled “The illustration as a process and thinking – Authorship and interpretation”, at the University of Aveiro in 2009. She was holds a degree in Communication Design, during which she concentrated on illustration – from the same institution.
Joana currently lectures at the Department of Communication and Arts at the University of Aveiro, regularly participating in conferences, seminars and exhibitions. Her research interests focus on illustration as a privileged means of communicating with children. Joana has produced a vast amount of work in this area, having been awarded with several prizes, including an honourable mention in the National Competition of Children’s Illustration promoted by IPLB and IBBY (1997).
graduated in Industrial Design at University of Aveiro (2002) and completed his masters at the School of Engineering, University of Porto (2010). With professional design practice in product and graphic design since 2000. From 2006 to 2009, he was a visiting lecturer in Industrial Design at the University of Coimbra’s Faculty of Science and Technology. João is currently a PhD student at the University of Aveiro, where he has been assistant lecturing in design to masters level, since 2009. His research aims to investigate collaborative strategies and operative tools for design practice to facilitate cases of sustainable urban scenarios – whereby co-design platforms encourage an active approach, involving the people in the development process, leading to effective and holistic solutions.
Graduated Design from UA in 2011. Passionate about stories & visual narratives. Works with both digital & traditional media, but enjoys drawing the traditional way above everything else. Currently works at Mother Volcano, a multidisciplinar illustration studio for interactive media and new platforms.
is a graduated designer in Communication Design at Universidade de Aveiro and completed her master in Design at the same University. She’s Assistant professor at Escola Superior Aveiro Norte – Universidade de Aveiro, since 2005, and also, since its foundation in 2007, researcher for the Research Institute for Design, Media and Culture [ID+] where she develops studies in the field of illustration, communication and design for health. She’s also a PhD student in the Doctoral Program in Design of the Universidade de Aveiro where she is working on the thesis “knowledge paths that are designed when playing: design in the development of touch narratives for deaf children”.
is a communication designer, educator and researcher. Holds a Ph.D from Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London (funded by FCT), where he completed
a post-doctoral fellowship funded through an award from the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) for Cultural Engagement. Is Auxiliary Professor at the University of Aveiro, member of ID+, and a research fellow at Central Saint Martins. Previous communication design work includes brand mark designs, visual identity systems, consultancy and training for a range of organizations in Portugal and the UK. Teaching covers visual identity, strategic design, brand semiotics, product semantics, contextual studies and visual methods. His research interests address the recovery, organization and use of brand archives as generative resources for cultural diversity and brand innovation.
wishes he was a doodle. A Design graduate from University of Aveiro since 2011, involved in as many projects as he could/can, just like your common procrastinator. After finishing University, Ricardo has been involved in creating/managing/aborting a small studio called Jungle Collective while working on Sapo Labs UA between other fun activities. Now he is working on a product design spin-off project, a collapsible cardboard laptop riser, called Fhold. Doodles are fun and spontaneous, just like people who draw them.
Rita Almeida born in Lisbon in 1979, educated in Communication Design in Universidade de Aveiro. In the last 4 years she has oriented her education in illustration.
